You’ll be hard pressed to find a horseman who isn’t enamoured of the sight of a talented trotter in full flight. Power Productions have kindly allowed me access to a video production highlighting the poetry of the trotting horse and the devotion of those who train them.

Life has been a roller coaster for young Chris Geary these past few years. He graduated quickly from the mini trots, to the maxi trots to the real deal, in record time, and within a week of launching his driving career, he visited the now familiar winner’s circle for the first time.

So sorry to learn that Victorian trainer Bruce Morgan is a patient in the Royal Melbourne Hospital, after suffering a stroke at his Bendigo stables last week. The esteem in which this man is held by all sections of the Victorian harness racing industry, was acknowledged in the most fitting way in 2015. He was awarded the Gordon Rothacker Medal, named after a doyen of the sport, and a role model to a young Bruce Morgan in the 60’s and 70’s.
