Just take last Saturday night as a typical example. There was one race for the trotters at Menangle, one at Albion Park, two at Melton and two at Globe Derby. Last Tuesday (May 30th) there were three events for the square gaiters at Menangle. Some trainers don’t like their unpredictable ways, while others can’t bear the thought of not having at least one trotter in the stable.
You’ll be hard pressed to find a horseman who isn’t enamoured of the sight of a talented trotter in full flight. I’ve known great drivers over the years who preferred to drive a good trotter rather than a talented pacer.
