HYGAIN/MITAVITE COUNTRY TRAINER OF THE MONTH - FEBRUARY 2022

Our February award winner is Steven Royes from the Queensland mining city of Mount Isa. The talented horseman prepares a small team of eight horses in conjunction with his full time job at the famous Mount Isa Mines.

Steve’s healthy strike rate is all the more impressive when related to his limited number of runners. He covers vast distances to race at places like Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Richmond, and Boulia. He’s a regular at Birdsville and isn’t a complete stranger at Darwin, Alice Springs and Townsville.

Steve’s happy hunting ground is his home track of Mount Isa where he won three of five races on February 26th. The Royes trio Whits End, Full Of Fire and Level Eight all won by big margins. Veteran jockey Jason Hoopert rode the first two, while Jeffrey Felix handled Level Eight. Felix joined an elite group of jockeys to “ride the card” when he won all five races at Prairie last August.

Steve is already a dedicated user of the popular Hygain/Mitavite Formula 3 product. As the February Award winner he’ll soon take delivery of twelve complimentary bags of the oat free, muesli style high energy feed.
